Phenolic resins for filter paper impregnation
Filter paper elements are used to separate solid particles from liquids/gas and to remove water from fuels or mineral oils. Phenolic resins in methanol solution are often used to impregnate such paper to achieve adequate strength.
Impregnated filters are used as air, oil and fuel filters in the automotive industry, the chemical industry in general, as dust filters or as filters for air conditioning.
FENOLIT under the brand name BOROFEN® offers a range of different phenolic resin binders (novolacs and resols in solution) for the impregnation of filter paper to meet specific customer requirements such as optimum strength, a certain degree of flexibility or elasticity, absence of odors, resistance to solvents, chemical and aggressive vapors and gases, adequate permeability and porosity, good texture, and excellent resistance to heat and ageing.
